BIOGRAPHY OF ALFONSA SCHEMBRI

Alfonsa Schembri graduated from the University of Windsor in 2002 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Option.  Immediately following the completion of her studies, Alfonsa joined Nemak of Canada at the Essex Aluminum Plant.  After holding positions as an Engineering Intern and Facilities Engineer, she transitioned into a full-time position as a Process Engineer.  Working within the Truck Modular Engine (TME) group, Alfonsa was the lead Process Engineer for the Core Department while still supporting Cast and Clean.  Moving on to the Nemak Engineering Centre, she then became Technical Specialist of Core Binder Systems while representing Canada within Nemak's Global R&D Team.  Upon leaving Nemak in 2009, Alfonsa began pursuing opportunities as an independent consultant.

Alfonsa became an AFS member in 2004.  She joined the board as a director, and has since held multiple terms as Program Chair and Website Chair.  Alfonsa has also been a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers since 2000 and was a student member with both the Society of Automotive Engineers and Professional Engineers Ontario.

Alfonsa enjoys spending her time away from work with family and friends, while also staying active by regularly playing golf and ball hockey.
