BIOGRAPHY OF JAMES PANASIEWICZ

James is a retired Senior Powertrain Materials Specialist with the Chassis & Powertrain Materials Engineering Group of Chrysler Corporation. During his 35 year career he provided metallurgical expertise to the various engine design groups at both the Auburn Hills and Plymouth Road Technical Centers of Chrysler. Engine development at these facilities encompasses passenger cars, mini vans, trucks and sport utility vehicles. The range of responsibilities included component alloy selection, manufacturing process development, component materials characterization, and on site evaluation of supplier component manufacturing facilities.

James is active with numerous technical societies and industry organizations. He is involved with the Ductile Iron Society, Past Chairman of the SAE Division 9 Automotive Iron and Steel Castings Committee, a 35 year member of ASM and 25 year member of AFS. James was active as a trustee at large for the Foundry Education Foundation. He is Past Chapter Chairman of the Detroit – Windsor Chapter of AFS and Past Chairman of the 2003 AFS Midwest Regional held in Windsor Ontario. He has presented at AFS and ASM both locally and nationally and at the 1991 World Austempered Ductile Iron Conference.

James obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1972. James concluded his career with Chrysler in July of 2007.
