BIOGRAPHY OF PAUL JONES
2009-2010 Vice Chair and Program Chair
Paul Jones has over 29 years experience in the automotive industry. He worked 15 years with General Motors and over 14 years with American Axle and Manufacturing. Jones started with GM at the Central Foundry Division in Saginaw MI serving in a variety of engineering and quality positions including Superintendent of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance and Industrial Engineering. He transferred to GM’s Advanced Engineering Staff at the GM Tech Center serving as Manager responsible for lost foam iron, precision iron process technologies and computer simulation of casting processes. His final role at GM was at Saginaw Steering Gear as Manager, Advance Product Engineering and Metallurgy.
In March 1994, Jones became part of American Axle where he has served as Manager of Advanced Product Engineering & NVH, Advanced Product Quality Engineering, Detroit Gear and Axle Quality Manager, Staff Metallurgist and Manager Supplier Quality Assurance and Development, Castings. His current role is Manager, Advanced Strategic Purchased Components,
Jones has attended Michigan Technological University (B.S. Metallurgical Engineering 1979, B.S. Engineering Administration) and the University of Michigan (MBA 1986). He is a member of AFS, ASM, ASQ and SAE.
